Local hospital achieves top 10 percent
national ranking
Greensboro, n.c., Sept. 1, 2013, – Consumer Reports announced on Monday that based on death
rates, infection control and patient satisfaction, Moses Cone Hospital ranked
in the top 10 percent nationally.
Ranking at 39 percent two years ago, the hospital hired Harris, Wade, Forte & Associates to create a strategic campaign to improve their scores. Tim Rice, chief executive officer, said, “We have been working diligently for two years to achieve this goal and our employees have done an excellent job implementing the change suggested by the group we hired.”
Previously, patients gave the facility low scores because of wait times in the emergency room and the lack of customer service with the staff. Despite the instability of the economy, the hospital hired 10 emergency medical technicians and 10 nurses to eliminate the extended wait times in the emergency room and employees had to undergo specialized customer service training for patients.
“Going to the hospital is a scary experience,” said Nicole James, a Moses Cone patient, “however, the changes the hospital has made, makes it better. You aren’t waiting forever before being seen and the staff is wonderful.”
Hospital officials have set their next goal to increase the facility’s ranking in the next two years and are optimistic about achieving it.
About Moses Cone Hospital
Established in 1911, Moses Cone Hospital is one of 11facilities in the multi-hospital system with a range of outpatient services designed to provide care for Piedmont residents throughout all stages of their lives.
